Hi friends! Today, we are going to talk fashion! I’m not all that into what’s in style these days (don’t get me started on those torn up sweaters), but like any other woman, I do enjoy shopping around and finding cute things for a steal! I thought we could look at where I buy my clothes and how I like to style simple, affordable things into cute outfits! Let’s start with the basics – my 3 favorite outfits.
The Mom Uniform
You all know what I’m talking about…the comfy jeans, oversized shirts, and old sneaks for running around after kids, or going around town to grab groceries. If I’m not in pajamas, this is probably what you’ll catch me in. Now, my all time favorite jeans (featured here), are Lucky Brand jeans I scored at T.J.Maxx for a whopping $35. That’s right, name brand jeans for less than $50. I looked them up after I bought them, and straight from the Lucky store, they were $129. I’d call that a win. They’re high waisted, glorious mom jeans that hold everything in and are flattering with just about any outfit!
Here, I have them paired with a chunky waffle knit sweater from a local boutique, In Fine Feather, and my FAVORITE trucker hat from one of my FAVORITE creatives, Loveleigh Creative Soul. Jess has tons of things on her Etsy, so for sure drop by and grab a cute shirt, hat, or sign (I’ve got tons of them around my house, including our beloved “Beauregard” sign by the front door). The final touch would be my beloved low rise “dainty” Chuck Taylor’s from Converse. These bad boys have been with me for the past 8 1/2 years, and I wear them weekly. I’m going to be sincerely sad the day they die.
If you’re looking for a classic, cozy outfit without looking like a total bum – this is it.
Classy Casual
For the times you want to look nice, but don’t want to feel it. You know what I mean. Most dressy outfits can be uncomfortable or honestly, really pricey. I hate dishing out for expensive outfits I will only wear every once in a while. I also hate wearing clothes that feel constricting, so I came up with a solution for both!
These WONDERFUL pants are from my all time favorite boutique in Utah, Roolee! I get probably 50% of my clothes from Roolee, and they are about the only place I will splurge on to get outfits these days as they have inventory I can’t currently find in Oklahoma. They have the cutest clothes from reasonable prices, but it can be hard to catch the new items as they go so quickly. Sometimes you have to wait for a restock to get items that are hot commodities, like these comfy blush pink trouser pants. They’re super soft, like buttery soft, and aren’t tight around the top like some pants can be. They also have pockets, which is a huge deal for me!
This is my all time favorite turtleneck, and would you believe I found it on Amazon?! Yeah! It was $15, and one of the best purchases I have ever made. They do run a little small, so if you’re like me and don’t want your clothes clinging to you, size up.
Finally, the shoes. Target. AH, Target. These were from the clearance section for a beautiful $6. I’ve always wanted loafers, and finding these for $6 was an “Ah-ha!” moment for sure. I came, I saw, I conquered.
Also, if you’re here in OKC, definitely go check out Commonplace Books in Midtown for your book needs. The COOLEST little book nook!
The Dressy Jumpsuit
Last, but most certainly not least: The Jumpsuit. I used to totally be one of those jerks who made fun of people who wore rompers and jumpsuits, and then I bought one. GUYS. They are the BEST! They are comfortable, soft, easy to move in, and often very sophisticated. Some of them are straight up pajamas, though, so watch which one you get 😂
This particular jumpsuit is from none other than Target! If you can’t tell, I really love Target. Like, a lot. Their new lines speak my language and they also aren’t too expensive for my budget. Unfortunately, this one isn’t available anymore, but they do have a few similar options that are still really cute!
Guess what?! The shoes are from Target, too! I love, love, LOVE the ones from Free People, but just can’t bring myself to buy them with that price tag. One day I was wandering through the aisles of Target, and BAM! There they were! Dreams came true that day, people. Dreams came true. They can be hard to snatch, so if you can’t find them in your store, get them here before they quit selling them!
Jumpsuits are also easily paired with a nice cardigan or pea coat for that “classy” winter look! This one is from In Fine Feather out in Weatherford, OK, and it’s SO cozy! I didn’t even feel the cold while I was wearing it, which is saying a lot because it was C-O-L-D. While Liz has her shop closed for now, she’ll be up and running again soon, so check in on her every once in a while to see when the shop will be back! She carries super cute clothes, shoes, and home decor with a variety of styles and prices.
Well, there you have it! These are some of my favorite outfits, the shops I love, and how I like to style them! Questions, suggestions, or requests? Drop them below!
Until next time!
