I’m a little partial to this story since Jeff is my cousin, but it’s a sweet one so I’m going to tell it anyway! Welcome to Jeff and Jill’s surprise wedding!
How They Met
Jeff and Jill both love theatre and participate in the local playhouse in Clinton, OK. They met doing what they love and continued to see each other outside of play practice. Lunches turned to dinners, dinners to dates, and dates to a stronger relationship.
I actually caught them looking for engagement rings one day while I was in Weatherford, so I knew their plan to get married and was SO excited to have Jill join our family.
Jeff contacted me after it was made official and we discussed how to make their dream wedding become a reality! We bounced ideas back and forth, knowing they didn’t want to have a big wedding, but more of an intimate wedding involving all their friends and families.
And that’s how the engagement party came to be…
The Party
Jeff and Jill loved the local restaurant White Dog Hill in Clinton, OK, and shared many fond memories there. It was the perfect place for their party and had the most beautiful Western Oklahoma backdrop for the evening.
Guests began to arrive, excited to congratulate the couple on their upcoming nuptials, unaware of how soon those special wedding moments would be.
Speeches…or Something like That
To thank everyone for coming, Jeff and Jill had planned “speeches” but Jeff conveniently “forgot” Jill’s notes in the bar, so she had to run back to get them.
But really, Jill was running to give everyone the surprise of their lives!
That One Time They Got Married
Walking down the “aisle” to the live music of their friend Jared, Jeff and Jill met in front of their closest family and friends to tie the knot in the most fun way possible. I know they were nervous about whether it would work out or not, but I can say it 100% was worth every shocked and happy expression that night.
And what better way to end your surprise wedding ceremony than with your favorite musical number from your current play?
Jill had produced (and Jeff starred in) Mama Mia the same time they were planning their wedding, and incorporated ABBA’s “Waterloo” into their ceremony. It only added to the joy of the occasion.
A Very Surprised Wedding Party
Even the bridesmaids and groomsmen had no idea a wedding would be taking place. It was the best surprise ever! It was so fun to catch their surprise and joy at the turn of events.
Mr & Mrs Berrong
Finally, Jeff and Jill were married! The perfect sunset for the perfect wedding.
A Night to Remember
The rest of the night was spent celebrating and chatting with each friend and family member, just enjoying their time together. Many came from near and far to celebrate an engagement and got a surprise wedding instead!
It really was the best night with the best of friends. I’m so happy for Jeff and Jill and I’m grateful I was able to be there for such a special time in their lives. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Berrong!
Until next time!
