A few months ago, I got a message from Hyrum’s mom, letting me know that he and Izzy were engaged! She wanted me to photograph their OKC temple wedding, which was a joy to hear after photographing Brig + Kenzie’s wedding back in May.
Let’s go back and take a peek at their beautiful wedding from September!
Sealing at Oklahoma City LDS Temple
The day was windy and a little cloudy, a typical day here in Oklahoma, but still so beautiful! Family came in from near and far to see Hyrum and Izzy as they became husband and wife, sealed for time and all eternity.
First Look at the Temple
So I want to start off by telling a little story about a boy and a girl. The boy saw the girl come into the room and immediately, he turned to his family and said, “I’m going to marry her.” Fast forward about 10 years, he did!
These two have known each other since childhood and have a bond like no other. It’s so silly, sweet, and intimate at the same time, their love is just so abundantly clear when you see them together.
When I talked to Izzy, and she told me she wanted to do a special “first look” where Hyrum got to see her in her wedding dress for the first time, I was all for it! I’m so glad we did, because Hyrum could NOT believe his eyes when he saw his beautiful bride! His jaw literally dropped when he saw Izzy for the first time!
I mean, COME ON. Literally the sweetest!
The Family
This family is SO fun to hang with! They’re the life of the party and being around them is always a joy. They came from all over the U.S. to be with the happy couple and celebrate their day. How lucky is that?!
Bridal Party
From siblings, to cousins, to best friends, Hyrum and Izzy had a tribe behind them all the way. Some flew in from Kentucky, some came from 10 minutes away, but all were there with love and support for the bride and groom. It was beautiful listening to the stories from the toasts, the laughter and jokes, and the words of encouragement throughout the day.
Bride and Groom Portraits
I know this is the part you’ve been waiting for, so let’s not leave you hanging. After taking a few portraits at the temple itself, I took the two love birds around the corner to take some in a nearby field so they could have a little privacy and a minute alone together before jumping back into the festivities. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT.
Oh, and in case you didn’t notice, yep. Hyrum’s tux is camouflage.
We are Family
Dancing with family and friends is really the best way to end the night! It was emotional watching Izzy and her dad as they had their dance as well as Hyrum and his mom. I cry during these dances every wedding because I start to think about the day I will have to dance with my baby boy and watch my husband swing our girls around before sending them off. It gets me right in the heart strings and this wedding was no different. You could feel the love they had for each other, and it was so special to witness.
Letting loose and catching couples having fun at the reception is honestly one of the best parts of the night! I love seeing everyone so happy at the end of the day, joyously celebrating the new couple and the start of their new life together. Plus…there’s cake.
To All a Good Night
Well, that’s a wrap folks. Another wonderful temple wedding for the books! I’m so grateful that I was able to be there for Izzy and Hyrum and that they trusted me to be such a big part of their day! Their family took me in as one of their own and I had the best time celebrating with them! Congratulations to the newest Mr. & Mrs. Godwin!
See you soon, friends!
