Anne is one of my all time favorite characters and to honor her timeless romance with her childhood love Gilbert Blythe, I wanted to embody all things Anne in a modern bridal shoot. I couldn’t have done this without the most wonderful team of specialized vendors to bring to life a whimsical Anne inspired theme utilizing summer colors, fresh fruits, wild blooms, and classic elements straight from the pages of the novel Anne of Green Gables (like the infamous raspberry cordial incident). Since the shoot is finally published over on Glamour and Grace blog, it’s time to share with you!
The venue, The Barn at the Woods, was the absolute perfect setting between the farmhouse and a beautiful barn hidden away in the woods. The entire location reminded me of Anne’s beloved Green Gables, with its landscape that fit the novel perfectly.
The Details
To bring focus to the beauty of the natural surroundings, my grandfather made our team a custom arch in the shape of an oval, innovating to create a window to the story we were capturing.
This arch was not the only personal aspect added to this shoot, my grandfather actually gave me all of my grandmother’s milk glass dishes to be used in our tablescape. Since my grandmother passed away last year, this really brought a deeply emotional connection to the shoot for me. My grandmother was always incredibly supportive of me and my work, and I miss her so much. It made me feel a little like she was still here, and brought me joy to see a piece of her influence in my life on the table.
I had the best time with friends, both new and old, as we created this whimsical setting. Combining classic elements with the modern, bringing Anne to life from the pages of her story. I’ll leave you here to see the rest of our April evening, and I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed creating them!
Until next time,
